Sculptures on the Kitchen Garden Plinth at Greys Court March to December 2026

Historic mansion with red brick and stone facade, surrounded by lush green trees and grass under a clear blue sky. No visible text.

Many thanks to those of you who submitted applications to display your sculpture on the Kitchen Garden Plinth at Greys Court. If your sculpture was one of the 5 selected for display during the next 10 months, you should have received an individual email to confirm this.

The sculpture selection was made by National Trust representatives for Greys Court and they thanked us for providing them with “such lovely options” and “making our decision a difficult one!”. The National Trust returned their list with short explanations for their choices, which I have included below here for your information. The selectors mentioned these various criteria as part of this first round of selections:

• Visual impact

• Connection with elements of the layout of the gardens

• Reflection of the seasons in the surrounding plants and trees

• Connection to a themed event at the time at Greys Court

• Selection of a diverse range of sculpture

The current group of selected sculptures takes us through to the end of this year. We plan to open the application form for The Plinth again in Q4 later this year to select the sculptures for display during 2027. I will send out details about this nearer the time. If you wish, you can re-submit sculptures from his first round for re-consideration for 2027.

Here are the first 5 sculptures to be displayed for sale on the Kitchen Garden Plinth with comments from the National Trust Selectors. We will also put a News Item on the OSG website about the display with photographs of the sculptures:

March & April – Swirling Ribbon by Crispin Wride. Rusting Steel on Stone Base. Series of 7.

“We like this as it’s largescale, impactful, and very different to Charles for the opening Sculpture. We also thought it would be wise to go for a slightly less expensive, metal option to start off."

May & June – Labyrinth by Andrea Brewer. Stoneware Ceramic with Copper Glaze. Unique.

“We like Labyrinth as it connects to the maze, and shows a diversity of work.”

July & Aug - Freestyle with Attitude by Malcolm West. Bronze Resin. Edition 3 of 15.

“We thought she would complement the garden with wisteria and flowers at this time.”

Sept & Oct – Sycamore Seed by Roz Read. Bronze Resin. Edition 12 of 25

“We liked the sycamore seed as it ties in well with the season.”

Nov & Dec – Teardrop by Andrew Binnie. Wood (Hemlock). Unique.

“We’re planning on running a peter pan themed Christmas install at Greys, and to us, this felt the most appropriate to connect to the theme.”

These sculptures are a great start to the rotating display of OSG work at Greys Court. We are looking forward to seeing what will follow later this year!
