Sculpture on the Kitchen Garden Plinth September/October

Greys Court (National Trust), Henley-on-Thames, Oxon

To celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the National Trust’s partnership with the Oxford Sculptors Group at Greys Court, the venue will be featuring a different sculpture, each made by a member of the Group, every 2 months on the brick plinth in the south east corner of the walled Kitchen Garden. Each sculpture is for sale and information about the sculpture and how to buy it is displayed alongside the plinth.

The brick plinth was occupied by the wooden statue of the former head gardener at Greys Court, Charles Taylor. Charles worked for Lady Brunner, who was instrumental in re-landscaping these gardens. The wooden statue has been removed for conservation.

The Oxford Sculptors Group sculptures on display are made from a variety of media and in a diversity of styles. Each has been selected to sympathise with the surrounding gardens and the seasons. The fourth sculpture on display is “Sycamore Seed” by Rosalind Read (see accompanying photo) and this piece will be in the gardens during September and October.
