Marie Shepherd
Marie has always been fascinated with forms and movements, and this reflects very well in her sculptures. She likes to explore various facets of sculpture, from the sensitivity and movement of the human form to humour in animals, or the pleasing shape of fruits.
Her favourite material is plaster, but she also works in clay and wax; her sculptures are then cast, either in bronze or bronze resin. The sculpture takes form and evolves as it is created. The final creation is a moment captured. She has a range of garden sculptures, but also indoor sculptures.
Marie is originally from Brittany; she now lives in Oxfordshire where she pursues her passion for sculpting.
She is an active member of the group, and regularly takes part in exhibitions around the country.
She has taken part in many outdoor and indoor sculpture exhibitions in the UK, including Showborough House, Delamore Arts, Hidcote Manor Garden (National Trust), and RHS Wisley. She exhibited at the Mall Galleries with The Medical Art Society.
She has won 3 prizes in the last 3 years at Showborough House. Last year she was awarded the People’s prize for her Little Owl II.
