Guadalupe Charlone

Guadalupe Charlone, known amongst her friends and family as Lupita is a talented Mexican Sculptor who has worked on her creations for over 25 years, but only recently has managed to dedicate full time to her sculpture, her ambition from childhood.

Originally from a country with a wealth of traditions in carving stone, as soon as Lupita sees a boulder, she can read between its veins, she interprets its sensuous form and turns them into sculptures. Also, she masters Prehispanic Mexican ceramics techniques.

Lupita establishes dialogs with her materials and her hands are the medium to explore the big questions, the beginning of life, longevity, sensuality, reflexion, laughter, nature, fragility and the mystery of life.
Lupita’s works include clay, wood, onyx, alabaster, serpentine stone, soapstone and a wide variety of rocks and minerals, including volcanic stone.
Each sculpture is the reflexion and exploration of an intensive life.
Tenderness, dedication and colour are the characteristics of Lupita’s works.

Lupita had her first solo exhibition in Mexico in 2010 and since then has participated in exhibitions in Claydon House, Buckinghamshire, Alhama de Granada, Spain and Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Some of Lupita’s work has been reviewed by art critics with acclaim and awe for a talented amateur. These art reviews  gave Lupita the enthusiasm to produce Limited Editions of some of her most sought after recent sculptures, and she has created series for Futuro, Fantasia and Confidents, which are selling very well amongst art collectors.
Lupita’s studio in Cuernavaca Morelos, Mexico has been re-furbished in 2012 to host stone carving, clay modelling and wood carving courses as well as to host collective exhibitions with other artists.
