Lindsay Neale Waring

Lindsay is self taught and enjoys working in many different mediums.

For over two decades she has been exploring the properties of wire. This medium really ignites her creative ideas. She inspired by movement and wildlife. Wire is challenging material but very versatile. Lindsay has made large sculptures and small, for private homes and public spaces. Pre-used wire, fencing or thatch is Lindsay’s preference and only requires a pair of pliers as her basic tools. This keeps a very low carbon foot print.

“With a little directional indoor or natural light, lacy shadows appear, whilst outdoor work become bejewelled with dew and frost in winter, not to mention the lacy webs that appear after spiders have been busy in the hollow form.”

Lindsay keeps true to the material’s properties by using few layers which enables her to achieve translucency in her work, whilst incorporating great strength.

With animals and birds, Lindsay’s aim is to capture flowing movement whilst encapsulating the subject’s character. Whilst her human forms reflect the complexities of human emotion.
