Jez Gibson-Harris

The artists work takes its reference from natural forms with marine, bird, animal and plant influences that aim to stimulate emotion and explore a sensual feeling of flowing motion. The sculptures take form in computer space, that of an infinite artificial environment.  In their final form the sculptures are rooted in three dimensions, but pertain to a fourth dimension,* of the freedom of flight through air or sea.

The work of Constantin Brancusi and Henry Moore have been major influences in my work along with the iconography of prehistoric, Minoan, tribal and Inuit art and their representation of human and animal forms.

The work is envisaged and developed using Zbrush software and ‘high end’ 3D CAD software. Chosen works are transformed into maquettes via a digital 3D Rapid Prototyping Machine, which prints a 3D maquette of the sculpture in acrylic for evaluation. Once a maquette has been chosen, the 3D data is enlarged to the required size and a further 3D print is made. The 3D printed form is hand finished and plated with a metal finish.
